Memorial Fund

Kevin Gorter died in car accident shortly after graduating from Duke University in 1987. He was the most energetic, compassionate, charismatic, humorous and empathetic young man you could ever hope to meet. To keep Kevin’s spirit and zest for life present in our lives, several of Kevin’s closest friends started the Kevin Gorter Memorial, which with friends and family will celebrate its 25th year in 2012.

Originally established by his friends to support the LFHS hockey program, a 501c3 eligible foundation was formed in 2002 and has since evolved into a vibrant charitable organization. The charity supports hockey programs for developmentally and financially challenged kids around Chicago - programs we think he would have loved. In 2011 we donated $10,000 to the Tomahawks special needs hockey program that helps over 100 kids with autism and downes syndrome be part of team and experience the joys of the game. We also donated $10K to Hockey is for Everyone (HIFE), which runs hockey leagues for 275 financially disadvantaged youths around Chicago.

Over the years through our fundraising efforts, contributions have grown and now have a very meaningful impact on each organization and the children they serve. At last year’s golf tournament, more than  $25,000 was raised through the donations of families and local businesses. We hope you will consider a donation to help the Memorial Foundation continue its good work – inspired by the life and memory of our friend Kevin.

THIS IS WHAT IT IS ALL ABOUT!!
